Introducing Carbonxchange

Printer-friendly version

This Christmas, Infoxchange is taking a step in a new direction and invites you to leave a ‘green footprint’ to help us address the issue of climate change through a brand new Infoxchange enterprise. Carbonxchange has been established to facilitate the trading of carbon credits between farmers in East Timor and individuals, community groups, local government, and businesses.

In East Timor, many indigenous trees have all but disappeared. Carbonxchange aims to assist the establishment of certified Tree Cooperatives in East Timor to facilitate the reforestation of suitable land, and create an online auction service to allow direct carbon trading between Tree Cooperatives and anyone wishing to purchase carbon credits. Carbonxchange initially seeks to raise $200,000, with all funds to go towards the propagation and planting of 20,000 mahogany saplings, as well as the infrastructure to support it and the governance of the enterprise.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the creation of employment, education and training with a social enterprise model delivering environmental benefits and allowing you to offset your carbon footprint. And all donations are tax deductible.

To contribute, visit carbonxchange.net.au, choose a purchase option and your saplings will be donated to the LAHO Nursery in Baucau, East Timor. The saplings will be grown at the Nursery in preparation for planting by the Carbonxchange Tree Cooperative.

As symbolic gesture, we’ll send you a packet of Carbonxchange flower seeds to plant in your own environment. By planting these seeds and watching them grow, you will have a reminder of the contribution you have made to supporting the establishment of a grassroots initiative that will have significant social and economic benefits to villages in East Timor, and environmental benefits for us all.

We warmly welcome your contribution this Christmas to assist this exciting initiative.
