Scenario: Rex has been hit by a car and is lying amongst
the traffic. His left arm is bent in an unusual way and his left
leg is crooked. Rex is conscious and complaining of severe pain.
He asks for some booze to help the pain.
Advice:
- Reassure Rex and make him comfortable.
- Don't move him.
- Call for an ambulance and arrange for someone to direct traffic
away.
- Don't allow Rex to have any fluids, as surgery may be required.
Surgery is hazardous if the stomach is not empty.
