Resuscitation and First Aid

Scenario: Bob has been stabbed in the leg and blood is pouring everywhere. He is pale and clammy.

Reassure him.
Have someone call '000' for an ambulance.
Take barrier precautions against Hepatitis, HIV and other infections.
Examine the leg. Apply direct pressure to the bleeding until medical help arrives.
Lay Bob down. This will help minimise bleeding, dizziness and fainting.
Cover Bob with a blanket to maintain body temperature.
