Scenario: You've just put the phone down after a very disturbing conversation. It's left you feeling very upset. Suddenly the door flies open and in runs your client Sylvia. Blood is pouring out her nose. It's everywhere. You calm her, sit her down and advise her to pinch together the soft part of the nose and hold it for ten minutes to stop the bleeding. You then discover blood on your hand. You notice that a small sore present on that hand is covered by the blood.
The recommended management here is to clean up the blood spillage with bleach and dispose of the used bloody tissues in a hazardous waste rubbish bag.
Sylvia will require these same tests.
All needle prick injuries require the same routine as above. Bring in the needle for testing and fill out an employee incident report form.
