Stimulants
These affect the brain, causing excitement and euphoria (in street terms, a 'high'). Stimulants are drivatives of 'adrenaline', a natural substance produced by stress. The 'high' lasts several hours. Withdrawal symptoms of restlesness, agitation, and sleeplessness follow. Mental depression may also follow. Heavy (daily) use of strong stimulants for long periond(weeks), may cause paranoia and auditory hallucinations (hearing of 'voices'). Such effects may not be reversible without medication.
